Does it do this every time or just after you first updated to the new version ?

Every time.

I tried uninstalling, running CCleaner, restarting and re-install and still does it.

I did recently install the new Secunia PSI 2.0...so I Unisntalled that too and ran CCLeaner....same result, still crashes.

The box that opens is a mailwasher box, and says:

Mailwasher Pro has stopped working
Windows is checking for a solution to the problem

This is happening to me too. Before I was getting a GetLastError: 32 when trying to update. It was looking for a file in the config.msi directory. It uninstalled. I reinstalled it, and the program asked me for my key. Once I supplied it, it instantly crashed and now it crashes every time it tries to verify the application settings to the server.

Not sure if it it's related but your version of MWP uses Microsoft .NET 3.5 SP1 which is inbuilt in Windows 7 and an add on for earlier version. There have been problems related to this being corrupted. I suggest that you take a look at the Microsoft System File Scan (SFC) utility (sfc /scannow) which should validate that the .NET resources or good or fix it if not.

Did this problem just start with version 1.0.50 and you were running 1.0.35 previously without any problems.

Just started with 1.0.50

I did fix it......I uninstalled .Net 3.5 (from control panel - programs - change windows features), restarted computer then re-installed .net 3.5 from control panel and now MWP works.

Looks like your hunch was right....but what corrupted my .net files and why didn't SFC detect it?

Thanks,
John

Corruption sometimes happen when MS patches are installed but the reality is that this is just another one of the great MS mysteries. :D
Glad your back up.

I've tried the above suggestions and they all result in the same crashing at startup. Even doing a complete and total uninstal with Revo Uninstaller. It installs, and as soon as I put in my key the program crashes and every attempt to restart the program causes it to instantly crash.

Have you changed the settings in your security software to designate both MWP .exe files as "Trusted"?

Yea, I got prompted to add it after one of the crashes - I use Microsoft Security Essentials......
