MWP doesn't play nice with Galaxy Mini...

Mon Jan 07, 2013 10:37 pm

Missed the launch of the Android Beta... Found MailWasher-Android-0.04.apk for Android on this forum (thx Pierre! :thumbsup ), but that doesn't seem to work.. Installs fine on my Samsung Galaxy mini but trying to add any of my E-mail addresses results in an errormssge saying: "Alert - device not known". Any idea whether 0.04 was the latest for Android?? :think Or could it be that MWP-mobile refuses to play nicely with the shiny new mobile contraption, my loving spouse bought me a few months ago?? :rant

My guess is that you should be to V7 at least. IOS is at V8 Beta per the this forum.

Hmm... that could be a problem then, as the latest Samsung upgrade was to Android 2.3.6 (Gingerbread)..

Thx... got the mobile version running. Encountered one problem: app crashed after entering my Gmail account after which I couldn't reach my newly created MWP account anymore. I'll send you a PM

Gmail has a guard up on their side that requires you to sign in on the web in a short period of time and acknowledge that your attempt was actually from you. They should have sent you an email indicating the attempt was made.

They did.. and finally I succeeded, but the crashing was of another order.

 I think the culprit was, MailWasherMobile app reacting differently to the hardware "back"- button than other apps do. Normally hitting the "back- button" once, just hides the onscreen keyboard. That's often necessary, as on my tiny Galaxy Mini, that keyboard more than often hides one or more fields to be entered. Scrolling is hardly possible because of lack of space, until I hide the keyboard. As you might imagine, seeing what field I'm entering comes in very handy when filling out a (any) form... ;) . Hitting the back- button in MWM, unexpectedly makes the app immeadeately go back a full screen or even terminate instead. :crazy This would normally, in other apps, take hitting "back" twice.

I'm afraid that's what happened when first creating a MWM account:

 The "crash" (or was it an unexpected termination?) made my first login- name inaccessible after I'd just finished entering the first of my E-mail accounts and hit "back", thinking that'd hide the keyboard. :!: This forced me to create a new MWM login with a slightly different login- name.
The new login accepted all E-mail accounts, with the exception of the one I'd already entered for the first- and inaccessible- log- in, as that account is already being used, according to MWM... :dead

:think Hmm... programmer been reading any Franz Kafka novels lately by any chance??? :devil

Were you not able to Sync all accounts from within MWP without have to do any entries in MWM?

In the end... yeap.. But before I found out that this is "how it works" I've been sweating over entering a few of my accounts manually.. Never read any manuals, but I guess, in this case, "rtfM" (found at http://www.firetrust.com/en/products/ma ... droid-beta) should probably have been intepreted as "rtfF(orum)" :devil
