I can access my Gmail account from Mailwasher on my PC but I can't set up the account on MW 2 on my Samsung S4 using the same credentials.
I got an "unauthorised access " email from Google specifying and "unknown device" in Portland OR, which I assume is Firetrust, so I said it was OK, but I still get the "incorrect credentials" message when I try to set up the account on the mobile. (The pop accounts on my own server work fine). Ideas please...

The notification is from Google not Firetrust. Any new device must be authorized with Google to be able to connect.
Try the Google site for the correct procedure to authenticate.

Does Firetrust connect to Google or does my phone do it direct?

Firetrust does, that's why Google is asking you to verify

Google had locked the account, so I unlocked it and all is now OK
