Unable to Load App to iPad

The two files have been downloaded and extracted. (Several times in the course of this effort.)
The files have been copied into the Mobile Applications folder. (And subsequently replaced with newer extracted copies.)
With one exception, the Mailwasher app doesn't appear in the iTunes Apps display. The one time it did, it was greyed out and had no Mailwasher logo. In checking the iPad, I found a message that it was unable to load the app.
I've clicked on the iPad in iTunes and then clicked on the Apps tab.
My settings are for apps to be synched automatically.
It wasn't in the device apps list (sorted by name).
I've clicked on the "synch" button in the lower right hand corner. Nothing.
I've repeated these steps several times including deleting extracted file extracting the .zip file again, and copying the newly extracted files to the Mobile Applications folder.
After repeated further attempts for over three hours, I've decided to give the forum a holler.
The present status is that the files are in the Mobile Applications folder, but aren't appearing in either the iTunes Apps display or the device Apps display. It's also not on the iPad.
