Mail not deleting from Trash

Mail not deleting from Trash

Why does mail in the Trash Folder not disappear some off it has been there for a week or more
If vegatarians eat vegatables - what do humanitarians eat !!

The trash is emptied when there's 100 emails in there - the oldest are removed.

Is there a way for it not to be removed after 100 or maybe locked a few items there?
