Unable to log in

Last night I updated my Android phone to KitKat version 4.4.2. All apps work normally, except MailWasher Mobile. MWM now asks me to login, but when I login using my former user name and password I am presented with a red text message that they are invalid. I have not yet moved to the beta 4 version because it could not be synced to my MailWasher Pro account. Now it can, but I am still uncertain of what features are and what features are not available on the beta 4 version. Until I install the beta version, how can I use my present version of MWM? Do I have to create a new account to sync up with MW Pro? Is it the same process as with the beta version? Do I need to update MW Pro first? Do I install the beta version ontop of my present MWM version, or must I uninstall my present version first? Can I save any of my present preferences or settings when installing the beta version?

Thanks for your help.

Tony

I've heard there are a few issues with that version on KitKat and I don't know your username so I can't check these details.

You can now sync the latest Beta 4 with a new version of MailWasher Pro (see the announcements part of this forum). You'll need to create a new Mailwasher account with this new beta. Nothing will be carried over from the current mobile version. I'd uninstall the current mobile version before using the beta.

Thanks for your reply Nick.

I'm trying to work towards installing the new beta, but am now blocked by a problem trying to update my present version of MW Pro. I'm using MW Pro 7.3.0 on a Windows 8.1 64 bit system. I downloaded the patch to update to 7.3.2, but the patch won't take. I get a pop-up window telling me the installer either cannot find my MW Pro installation or I have the wrong version for the patch.

I guess my next try is to download the complete 7.3.2 program rather than the patch. Will installing 7.3.2 Pro on top of my present 7.3.0 Pro keep all of my old settings, filters, accounts and such? Version 7.3.0 was a clean install on this new computer with a clean install of Windows 8.1, so there are no lingering Registry or program fragments from earlier versions on this new hard drive.

Ok, odd the patch won't work. Just uninstall the current version you have, opt to keep the settings when asked and then install the new complete version.

The patch pop-up asked me to verify the program path, among other things, and my path is different than the default. Perhaps that's what's causing the patch to fail.

As to my inability to log into my account on MWM after updating to KitKat 4.4.2, that's been resolved. I was using the correct user ID, but apparently MWM had set it to all caps. Changing to all caps for my user ID, I was able to log in successfully.

Thanks for letting me know. Odd about the caps. You can use this MW Pro version to sync the old version (1.0) or the new beta (version 2.0)

A couple of days ago I upgraded my Samsung Galaxy S3 to an S5. On my old S3 I was still using MWM 1.x, but decided to move up to 2.0.0 beta 4 on my new phone. That has presented a problem. The beta installed fine, but I cannot get MW Pro to sync with it. I currently have MW Pro 7.3.0 installed on a Windows 8.1 (64-bit) system.

Once again I downloaded the 7.3.2 patch, and once again it could not find my MW Pro installation. Your previous suggestion was to uninstall MW Pro, retaining my settings, then install the full version of MW Pro 7.3.2, That didn't work, either. The MW uninsataller could not find my present installation, so the program could not be uninstalled.

I do Have Revo Unistaller on my system, and it does find MailWasher. However, it uses the program's uninstaller fisrt, so I'm not sure that will work, either.

One option is to install 7.3.2 overtop of my present 7.3.0 installation. I have my user data folders copied on another drive. If 7.3.2 requires no changes to user data, I could copy them back into the Firetrust/Mailwasher user folder. I worry about creating extraneous Registry keys by installing on top of my existing installation and would be much happier uninstalling my present 7.3.0 program first. Any suggestions on how to get either the patch or the full program or the uninstall applet to recognize my present installation?

A work-around for the present situation is to install MWM 1.x on my new phone and sync that with my present 7.3.0 program. The 1.x version of MWM is still available on Google Play.

The only change I made when I installed MW Pro on the Windows 8.1 system was to change the installation folder path to C:\Program Files (x86)\Forensics & Security (x86)\Firetrust\MailWasher. Still, it was properly installed and works fine, so I don't understand why the installation is undetectable. Perhaps the parenthesis are confusing it?

If I click on the "Check for updates" under the help menu, the new 7.3.2 is not found. Is that a problem, too?

Hi
You'll need version 7.3.2 of MW Pro http://mailwasher2011.s3.amazonaws.com/ ... 062014.exe to sync with the mobile beta.
You could uninstall the previous version first using the uninstaller in program files>>Firetrust>>MailWasher>>Uninstall, it will prompt you to retain your settings - click YES

It shouldn't be a problem that you've installed in a different location

We haven't officially released 7.3.2 so that's why it's not showing in the updates screen.

Good news and wicked bad news.

I installed MWP 7.3.0 on my Windows 8.1 (64-bit) laptop in it's default location. I then tried to install the 7.3.2 patch. It installed without any fuss. In the Sync setup I logged in with the account I had created with the MWM 2.0 beta app on my cell phone. All of my e-mail accounts synced as they should, and MWM 2.0 beta works very nicely — and fast. I am very pleased with the beta.

Now the bad part.

I can't uninstall MW Pro on my PC system. There is no uninstall file in the Program Files (x86)>>Firetrust>>MailWasher folder. The uninstall link that was created when I installed MWP links to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\msiexec.exe /x {4622F96A-780B-48B8-8304-1CD8A40043E8}. I checked the last part 4622F96A-780B-48B8-8304-1CD8A40043E8 in my Registry. There were about 8 keys, but nothing stood out in their properties.

I tried uninstalling using Revo Uninstaller Pro. but, as I suspected, it couldn't get past the program's uninsatll that fails. How do I uninstall MWP? I suppose I could let Revo Uninstaller Pro find all of the Registry keys that relate to MWP and delete them, delete the MWP folders (except my data folders) and install MWP 7.3.2. Alternatively I could modify the 4622F96A-780B-48B8-8304-1CD8A40043E8 keys in the PC's Registry, but I don't know what they should be changed to.

The new installation of MWP on my laptop also has no uninstall file in its Program Files (x86)>>Firetrust>>MailWasher folder. However, its uninstall link has an icon, which the unistall link version on the PC does not. Also the update patch worked on the laptop installation, where it did not on the PC, so I'm assuming the uninstall link on the laptop will work normally. I could use the keys from the laptop's Registry as a template.

Any suggestions?

Anthony

Copy your user file directory to a safe place. Use Revo and force the UnInstall to clear out all the weeds. Then install the new one. Assuming that it works after then close and then copy the old user data to the new location.

Thanks Sidewinder.
Use Revo and force the UnInstall to clear out all the weeds. Then install the new one.
All went well with the Revo uninstall.
copy the old user data to the new location.
No need. I forgot to export my settings before I uninstalled MWP on the PC. Revo Uninstall created a system restore point, so I restored the system and then exported my MWP settings to a folder on another drive. However, when I tried to uninstall MWP again, MWP was not listed and could not be found by Revo or Windows, so I logged off my profile and logged on as Administrator (Super User). MWP was listed in Revo with that user, so I uninstalled MWP as Administrator, clearing out all Registry keys and folders.

I switched back to my normal user and installed MWP 7.3.2, I guess because I had uninstalled as another user (Administrator), all of my normal user data files were left intact, because when I opened MWP, all of my settings were as they had been. Wicked cool.

Previously, when MWP could not be uninstalled, in Revo the icon for MWP was a generic Windows icon. Now, after the reinstallation, Revo shows MWP with the normal MWP soapy icon. I think my problem has been resolved. Thanks for your help
