If there is nothing to do, or perhaps only one or two emails to delete, tapping on Wash appears to do nothing. This is a bit disconcerting until you get used to it.

Perhaps, a 'Washing in progress' message could always be displayed with a minimum display time of one or two seconds. Just a thought.

Yes, good suggestion. It's so quick at the moment you don't really see it so some animation of some sort would help show the user something is happening.
