Iphone and IPad Issue

I have had Mailwasher mobile installed happily on my IPhone and IPad for a while. It monitors my company and Gmail accounts. However my GMail accounts are no longer working through Mailwasher, I get an error message saying they can't be set up and probably the password is wrong. However the set up is exactly the same as I have in Outlook and my Gmail account works perfectly on my Iphone and IPad just not through Mailwasher.

I have gone into Mailwasher Pro settings and synched Gmail for mobile and I get all green ticks but it isn't working.

Ideas/thoughts please.

Gmail introduced a new way to authenticate your password, and now likes to tell everyone else they way they've always done it is insecure (which it's not). MailWasher Pro supports this but the mobile version doesn't yet.

Anyway, you need to make a change in your Google Account to make this work.
Login to your Google Account at https://accounts.google.com/ManageAccount and then click 'Connected Apps and Sites' and that will take you to https://myaccount.google.com/security?n ... nectedapps

Change the selector for 'Allow less secure apps' to ON.

Now, try and add your gmail account again. It may still block access as it's coming from a different location, so check your gmail inbox and allow this location as well.

You may need to also create an application specific password if the above doesn’t work: https://support.google.com/a/answer/1032419?hl=en

Thanks Nick.

I checked everything you said and Mailwasher is authorised and Less secure apps is ON.

Still I cant set up my Iphone, (I haven't tried the IPad).

Attached is the error message

I tried that and it makes no difference. The settings are exactly as I have both on my PC and my IPad and IPhone but they do not work any more in mailwasher.

Did you try creating an application specific password?

To be honest, sometimes we've just not been able to get it to work for some Gmail users and we don't know why. Obviously Gmail blocking it even though they have settings to allow it.

That's the one thing I haven't yet tried. Its too late now for me. I'll try it tomorrow and let you know what happens.

Thanks again, Nick for trying to help.

Thank you nick.bolton. My previously accessible Gmail account stopped working, and I had tried everything but turning on the "less secure apps" Google setting. As soon as I made that change everything started working just fine again. Much appreciation!

Mailwasher on my Ipad has suddenly lost my gmail settings. I have tried to log back in using my gmail address and what I know to be my password: failed. I tried creating an app specific password: that failed. I have checked in my google account and MailwasherPro is shown as an app with account access. MW still works on my IPhone. The error message is always the same, "Invalid username or password". Any thoughts about what else I might try? .

Solved. It turns out MailWasher on my IPad had for some unknown reason totally deleted my gmail account. Why might that happen?
I recreated it from scratch using a onetime password and all is back to normal for the moment. Curious to know what might cause this.

Hi, it will auto-remove itself after a while if it can no longer check the emails - it then assumes you've changed the password and need to setup things again or the account it no longer active.
