BT email account

Cannot set up a BT email account on Mobile Mailwasher. Either get error for incorrect password or doesn't exist. Any suggestions?

Have tried adding email account and all I get is "Your email provider has indicated your email settings are not correct" I am using the same settings as for Mailwasher Pro and my email program Outlook and K9 (mobile). So why can't I add an account?

Usually this would indicate your password is incorrect. Are you able to send me a private message with a screenshot of these settings in the mobile version?

Although it's saying the password maybe incorrect I know it isn't as it works with Outlook on PC and on Android phone mail app. The settings for pop3 are the same as Mailwasher Pro and Outlook.

Thanks. That's odd then. Do you have any unusual characters in your password like * ?

Well, I'm sorry but I just don't know what the issue would be. That message is what we get back from the ISP and usually means an incorrect username or password. We don't get any logs for this either. Another thought is that they might be blocked it based on security because it's a hosted app, so our server for this is in the USA (Oregon). Perhaps BT have a setting to show where this has tried to be used and you can unblock it? (Like Gmail)

BT doesn't work with Mailwasher here either.

Diagnosis: <EVENT><NAME>MWPEXCEPTION</NAME><ID>47c4b4f66a90fe632a552726d89377bb</ID><DT>2019-01-04 15:22:12</DT><MWPEXCEPTION><UID>Exception e12a485e89b54266dce70e5c8bae1f1c</UID><AID>Acct2008558026</AID><SOURCE>IMAPservice::GetFolders</SOURCE><MESSAGE>IMAPservice::GetFolders - SocketException - GetLine failed() failed with code 0: The operation completed successfully.</MESSAGE><ADDXML><TYPE>IMAPFOLDERS</TYPE><SEVERTYPE>IMAP</SEVERTYPE><HOST>mail.btinternet.com</HOST><PORT>993</PORT><ACCOUNT_TEXT>xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx_btinternet_com</ACCOUNT_TEXT><ACCOUNT>Acctxxxxxxxxxxxxxx</ACCOUNT><USER>xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx@btinternet.com</USER><LOGINTYPE>1</LOGINTYPE><SSLMODE>1</SSLMODE></ADDXML></MWPEXCEPTION><ORDINAL>0</ORDINAL></EVENT>

BT has a wonderful ability to use settings that screw up anyone who dates to try to use its system with alternative hardware or grown up software.

For example, it uses an implementation of IPv6 that many hardware makers do not support.

We did find that people with BT emails and passwords containing an asterisk wouldn't work in MailWasher (something we'll fix up), if you go to Mailwasher>>Help>>User Files, then that will open a Window. Go to the Logs folder and for the BT logs, you should see a more specific error message if you can post that.

Hi
Just found this post during researching identical problem. It seems to matter whether your on BTmail or BtYahoo mail. I accessed my mail via web mail and it was headed BT Yahoo mail. The suggested settings were to use normal user name and password , incoming server imap.mail,yahoo.com 993 ssl and it worked for me. I now have to try and regrow my hair. Worth a try if you have the problem
