Cant login to Gmail Account with Mobile version 2.0

Tue Feb 16, 2021 3:52 am

I'm using an iPhone with IOS 14 and Mail washer Mobile version 2.0, no matter what I try I cannot log in to my account.

I get a message saying "Your email provider has indicated your email settings are not correct (usually an incorrect password)"

I am using imap.gmail.com on port 993 with SSL as the setting for incoming emails.

Any ideas as to what's wrong?

i've gone through option 2 and made a password for the Mailwasher App but i'm still getting the same problem.

I've included 2 screenshots to show what i've entered in screenshot 1, and the message i get in screenshot 2.

Driving me insane, lol.

So you have to use your email address as the username, which I see you've done in the first screenshot.
So you would have made an App Specific Password for your Gmail account. I assume you've used that password here?

Yep, I made an App specific password for MailWasher, which I use as my MailWasher login, the App specific password however doesn’t get entered for the Gmail server details.

Just don’t know what else to try. The only question is, do I use the IMAP or POP server details for Gmail?

You need to add that app specific password (or create another) and use it here in the Mailwasher mobile app. It doesn't really matter to use IMAP or POP as Mailwasher just uses it to access the inbox.

In the settings screen that you've posted here - where you would normally the Gmail password, instead enter the App Specific Password.

If Gmail isn't working, often the only thing you need to do is to simply close your instance of Gmail and reopen it. If you are in a web browser, close the browser, reopen it, and navigate back to the Gmail website. If you're on a mobile device, close the app, and restart it.
