I've noticed that Brave (and Chrome, Edge) is leaking my ISP DNS (allways) while using HideAway.
I've tried to solve that DNS leak:
1. No use of secure DNS in Brave's settings, but it did not help.
2. With your current service provider
Secure DNS may not be available all the time - Brave leaks my ISP DNS.
The only one solution to protect my ISP DNS while using HideAway is to assign either a secure DNS server with Cloudflare, NextDNS, Google, etc... in Braves Security settings.
N.B. I don't have any leak issues with FIREFOX while using HideAway, but Brave or Google Chrome, or Edge is leaking my ISP DNS.
Please help.
Thank you

Re: Brave leaks DNS while using HideAway
Hi
I"m not seeing this issue.
Can you let me know which location you're connecting to, and which IP Leak website is showing this. Is it IPv4 or IPv6?
Do you have any other security applications running, Adguard, Antivirus programs?
Will try and replicate here.
Thanks

Thanks for your help to resolve that BIG leakage problem.
N.B. I have the same DNS leakage problem with Chrome, Edge, Brave; therefore, I will focus only on Brave.
Here is my HideAway. My Brave has NO EXTENSIONS: Here are my Brave secure DNS settings:
Here is my DNS test:
Now, I've changed the Brave secure DNS settings to NextDNS: And here is my DNS test with NextDNS:

Just disable the "Use Secure DNS" option to prevent the DNS leak.

Re: Brave leaks DNS while using HideAway
Yes, I've tried it numerous times but it does not work.
N.B. I have NO LEAKING ISSUES while using FIREFOX.
My Brave does not leak with other VPN services like
VeePN, BulletVPN, Windscribe, VPNSecure, SlickVPN, VPN Unlimited, Ivacy, FastestVPN, and so on.
It's not my first rodeo about VPN apps.
My (chrome-based) browsers are leaking (gushing) my ISP DNS.

What DNS Leak test site are you using?
What other security apps are you running? eg, Adguard? MalwareBytes?
We're using a different driver (same as AdGuard) than the other VPNs, although we'll switch over to that at some point.

Re: Brave leaks DNS while using HideAway
Ok this is interesting.
Installed Bitdefender and it causes HideAway to now have DNS leaks. Uninstalled Bitdefender completely, and restarted PC. Still have DNS leaks.
Go to my other computer where I've not installed Bitdefender, and no DNS leaks.
The antivirus is the virus ! lol.
Anyway, we'll investigate. Might be a good reason to switch to wintun driver as other VPNs have done.

Re: Brave leaks DNS while using HideAway
Ok, we know the issue and are working on a fix as some AVs are altering the filter order. We have to get a new driver signing key, so might be a week before we can get the fix.
