I noticed that when I set the redirect to MS Edge, the connection for Opera changes as well.
Is this intended?

Yes, that is correct, we had to remove Opera from Hideaway, and as a safeguard, set Hideaway to always redirect it to NL, you'll have to either use another browser, or redirect your whole computer instead.
We removed it because they have an inbuilt torrent client and we suspect it was being use for abuse...
The issue is it makes it quite obscure when the torrent client is built in to Opera, rather then being an independent program.
We're just trying to protect ourselves and other users so we don't get shut down by ISPs....

And isn't it technically possible when redirecting to Edge for Opera to have a connection without a VPN?

I'm sorry, I don't understand. Why do you need to know if Opera has VPN enabled? If I turn on HideAway VPN for Edge (not My Computer) I want to use VPN for Edge only. It doesn't matter if I have VPN enabled in Opera or not. I feel like I'm missing something.

At the moment i have edge only directed to australia
And opera is open as well and going to NL at the same time which i knew about.
To me edge is not the problem but whenever HA is active in any mode on a browser etc, opera will go to NL
Not a great problem for me personally i have a few browsers for various purposes.
