I have the HideAway box ticked to run HideAway when Windows starts. If I start the PC and check my IP address online it identifies my home district (not the exact address). If I bring up HideAway it gives a different IP address, and if I go back to the checking site and refresh it, it then gives the one shown by HideAway.
Does this mean that HideAway is working properly and that the online site is either bypassing HideAway or has cached my true IP address in some way?
Or is HideAway not starting up until I open it?
In favour of the latter is the fact that when I click on the HideAway icon in the start menu, HideAway starts checking for updates and, downloads them if necessary before proceeding. Also, while MailWasher Pro appears in the Start menu, HideAway does not.
Thanks for any advice.
John

Re: HideAway not starting automatically
Hi John
When Windows starts, HideAway will remember the same instance it was when Windows was shut down. So if you were not connected to a location with HideAway when you closed Windows, then HideAway will remember that and not be connected when it starts up.
You can sometimes get instances of caching with web browsers unless you CTRL+F5 (forced refresh), open a private browing tab or restart the web browser, or restart Windows.
We'll be updating the installer soon, so it will appear in the Start Menu soon.

Re: HideAway not starting automatically
Thanks very much for the prompt reply. I'll start it myself then for the time being.

Re: HideAway not starting automatically
Hey Josh, it seems like HideAway isn’t fully kicking in at startup despite the setting, so check if it’s actually running in the background (via Task Manager) and applying its IP redirection right after boot. If it only works after you manually open it, consider reinstalling or tweaking the startup settings to ensure it launches and activates automatically.
