Please help. I can no longer load Hideaway. It hangs at a "Loading Rules" screen.

Hi there

If you quit HideAway from the System Tray >> right click icon >> Quit. Then restart, does it load ?

Thanks

Nope. Quitting and reloading, rebooting the PC - nada.

I tried reinstalling and it did not fix the issue. I don't know if this could affect this: I bought 3 licenses. When I made the 2nd install I used the file I had initially downloaded. There was no request to enter a license key on the 2nd install. Any link? I get the "Loading rules" hanging error on both PCs.

I tried a fresh install after deleting the Appdata folder ( I cannot remember its name now) but that did not help.

Did you try running HideAway after temporarily disabling your security system?

Try deleting C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Firetrust\Engine\Local Storage\ and running HideAway again, that'll force you to logon again.

Thanks for the replies. No - I have no tried running it without the my anti-virus being enabled, I will check that. Good idea thanks.

I have already tried the route of deleting <<C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Firetrust\Engine\Local Storage\>> but to no avail.

It did work to initially, it just stopped working after a couple of days. It is a great app, very simple to use, just need to iron out this issue. Thanks for your support.

It would more likely be the HIPS component - once you identify the security component, you could create an exception for HideAway. :thumbsup

In my case, the security component was my Firewall which was hampering the HideAway installation. :)

Yeah it does sound like Firewall blocking, if you let us know what flavour software firewall you're using, will find a link to show how to create exception. I will too get programmers to create a logging version tomorrow that might tell us more.

Great, try this then http://windows.microsoft.com/en-nz/wind ... s-firewall and Add HideAway.exe as an exception. I'd expect that particular Firewall to work out of the box though, so not hopeful it'll fix.

Just an heads up . . . . . . . . . . . . . I use the native Windows Firewall built into the 8.1 Update 3, myself - since it is quite difficult to operate, have been using the free variant of Windows Firewall Control (a front-end GUI with an extremely light footprint, for the Microsoft firewall - makes it much easier to manage.) :thumbsup

No joy :( Switching off anti-virus, adding program to firewall, no difference. Still hanging on loading.

Keen for a remote session using TeamViewer ? I got my logging version but it's a funky thing to use, needs Chrome and swapping out some EXEs.
Adding logging into the regular EXE is in the works, but not feasible right now.
