HBO Go (and DNS leak Tests)

Hi Firetrust,

Similar to the Netflix threads I'm trying to create a successful rule for *hbogo.com. With only beginner knowledge, I followed the link to a DNSleak test. I had enable a rule for all traffic via LA plus the DNS port53 block. The test said 'Hello Los Angeles" but then was able to identify my Australian TPG ISP. What is your recommended fix? I have already clicked on the Chrome URL window and blocked location for hbogo.com. Also Does this also mean none of my encryption rules work?

regards,
Mark

I don't have a subscription to test with, I assume I want this, http://www.amazon.com/HBO-Digital-Servi ... B00XZFCVK4 ?

First place I would start though is a basic rule redirecting the whole browser, if that won't work then there is perhaps a bigger issue we need to look at. If the whole browser works, then it's a case of just stripping it back to the core domains that get used, but we can come to that later.

Thanks for the quick response,

That link worked and so does netflix(US). I was actually trying to unblock the browser verison @ www.hbogo.com It says " You must reside in the fiftey states of US". I am running Windows10 which apparently broadcasts DNS as well. I have the rule "ALL internet traffic" enabled via LA

It's made me worry about other content my ISP logs during my day to day activities. Am I correct in saying my ISP can still log the site URL but the content is encrypted?

Can you disable your Chrome rule, or move it below the USA rule (you can drag and drop rules), it looks like that is taking precedence so Chrome will go via AU.

Still no luck,

In the meantime I fixed both my dns leak and ip leak by change my router settings from "auto via ISP's DNS" to "manual via 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4" however the hbogo site still doesn't work. Didn't they improve there vpn/proxy security this year? I was expecting a different type of error code. Can you access it ( assuming your non US) ?

Ah yeah, I was using Firefox and it seems to be working through that, Chrome for some reason though is giving me some trouble. Do you have another browser installed you can try ?

Thanks for all your help,

I ended up getting in the back door via the help centre links :scratch but taking the direct link from google still doesn't work. I'm all happy now, especially with my isp hidden. I will definitely stay on for another year. Good luck with Hideaway 2.0 ;-)

regards,
Mark

OK great, glad you got it working, albeit in a roundabout way :)

I'm not sure why Chrome is giving me the issues it is, yet Firefox and IE seem OK. HA2.0 does seem better, we should have a decent beta build in the next few weeks too, may prove more reliable for such things.
