BBC IPlayer

On my system in Switzerland BBC IPlayer works if whole computer redirected. Works only partly if IPlayer selected. I haven't tried downloading but, for example, sub-titling does not work. For me it is not critical because redirecting the whole computer works just fine.

Ok thanks. We'll need to examine the streams from iPlayer a bit more and try all scenarios. I guess iPlayer uses a different URL for subtitles (which we're not redirecting in our filters).

Just downloaded 3.12. I didn't get the login screen, so I just selected bbc iplayer and I got - "not available in your location"

I am logged in to Maillwasher, do I need a specific login for hideaway?

Hi

There's no login for this version, so lets try a few things

1. After you ran HideAway for the first time did you get a popup screen asking to allow HideAway through the Windows firewall? If so, you need to select both options for public and private/local. If not, then just run the installer again and do this.
2. Try redirecting 'All Computer' to 'London, UK', open up your web browser, or a fresh tab and try BBC iPlayer
3. Otherwise, we'll have an update early next week which I think will fix it.

Let me know how you get on.
Nick

Thanks Nick.

I have Avast installed but the log of connections doesn't show Hideaway as trying to "get out" However the app settings says allow Hideaway access to all networks.

Like our Swiss colleague above I didn't get the direct to IPlayer to work, so I was using All and London UK and then the BBC i-Player

But.... I just tried again, same process, but it was blocked...Tried the direct access to IPlayer, same result.
I had another look at Avast and Hideaway is now on the "allowed" list.

What about the Windows firewall?

Ok, it is working. Typically MS don't make it easy to introduce a new app!

I'll keep you posted. Is there an alert for updates?

We do auto-updates, and you'll see an alert across the top of the user interface, then after restarting the app, you'll have the new version

3.14 just installed itself on my computer. I read the notes to see that BBC Iplayer now supports sub-titles. Not for me it doesn't, I still have to divert the whole computer. Should I be doing something more drastic like uninstalling Hideaway completely and then installing 3.14 as a new installation?
