After an auto-update to version 4.1.4 an old problem got back. After the update HideAway V 4.1.4 starts automatically. Initially, the checking updates windows is shown. After that, the Starting window, and then the process shuts down.

Is there a link to the latest beta version of HideAway so I can install it manually?

I uninstalled HideAway 4.1.4, rebooted and deleted all folders related to HideAway. Rebooted, run AVG PC Tuneup and rebooted again. Installed HideAway 4.1.4

This worked before but not this time. I noticed a different error message in the log.log file, see attachments

Perhaps send us a screenshot when it crashes or copy/paste the output.

Make sure HideAway is shut down. This is a command line version again.
Download here:

Then find the file in Explorer (probably in Downloads), and in the top title bar in Explorer, type cmd and press enter. That will bring up a black command line screen.

Type
hideaway-wpf-test.exe 2 1

Then press enter.

When it crashes, can you please send me the screenshot or copy/paste the output.

That ping value seems high, are you on Satellite internet?

nope, I don't have cable or anything like that. I living in a place that only got a 4G internet connection. And I killed the command line version because it was indeed slow.

Thanks for the info, there seems to be a pattern here - it seems to be affecting people on slower, higher latency connections.

It has more logging around the Registry. What antivirus program are you using? It seems like something is preventing HideAway from running other processes.

Tried HideAway 4.1.6, no luck, after the HideAwayDriverSetup.exe it shuts down.

I am using Webroot SecureAnywhere

Could you please post the logs again. Can you also check in SecureAnywhere that HideAway is not being blocked?

HideAway is not blocked in SecureAnywhere. I tried HideAway with all options disabled in SecureAnywhere, and I added the file HideAway.exe to the allow list in SecureAnywhere. Makes no change.

What other security software do you have installed on your PC? HideAway.exe tries to launch/spawn other executables, eg: reg.exe to check the registry and see if the driver is installed and it is being blocked by a 3rd party application on your PC. It's also blocking Update.exe and HideAwayDriverSetup.exe

Hi, we found a bug in a 3rd party program we're using which would have made the first install not working properly
