CUSTOM FILTERING / RULES

Tue Sep 06, 2022 4:56 pm

@Nick
There is a lot of moss growing on the past delivery predictions for the rebirth of the rules facility we had years ago. :cry

Can we have an update on current status (coding/testing/beta?) and an expected release date.

As a loooong time user - like many others - I miss the facility.

Hey, I know. Not ideal. We've had the developer concerned on another project for a while, which took way longer than expected. Hope to get back to HideAway asap and deliver on the rules. We've changed the user interface to accommodate them.

We'll likely introduce a configuration file initially which will let you set rules, then we'll add the user interface to make it easier.

Whoa! You're planning on letting Users manually edit Configuration files!?!

That's NOT a disaster waiting to happen is it...

This is exactly why a GUI is needed first - to side step the idiocy of the Users.

Hopefully not, we'll use YAML files and they're quite strict

Hi Nick,

Here's a Free crystal ball prediction. Even using YAML, you'll be committing your team to endless hours of figuring out
what syntax boo-boo the customer has made. Unless you offer a complementary GUI to take the input and format it correctly.

Murphy's Law will persist.

We won't tell too many people about it in the interim, it's more of a stop gap measure.

Any update on these custom rules? A few of us have been waiting patiently for a few years!

Tell me about it. Sorry, still not done yet - very annoying for me too. Another project is taking way too long before we can finish this up
