Streamed shows start buffering - & gets worse over time.

I have a problem that TV shows from BBC etc starts buffering and progressively gets worse over time. When I first got my new laptop it worked perfectly but over a period of weeks there would be short interruptions, which get longer - last night there were constant interruptions so the program became virtually unwatchable. I had similar issues with my old laptop, so it’s not a computer issue and it’s not an internet connection issue. On the old laptop I tried downloading programs to BBC the app, but even when replaying from that it would start buffering- so it can’t be connection related. I have tried deleting history/cookies etc and restarting Chrome without success. I tried switching to Firefox and that worked for a while but then it would start buffering on that browser too. I mainly watch BBC but lately I have been watching ITV - that’s been problem-free but I have now started seeing some slight buffering developing there too. It’s got me stumped - any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks Nick. I’m away from home for a few days. I’ll give it a try when I get back. Can anyone think of a possible cause of this not relating to HideAway? At its worst it was interrupting other web related streaming such as Seven Plus and SBS On Demand

Hi Nick, After getting home, I tried watching BBC via HideAway. After more than an hour of viewing it was almost perfect apart from one very brief buffering of about a second or two - barely noticeable. That compares with my last experience of severe buffering every 5 minutes or so, often requiring exiting Chrome. So thank you very much. I’ll keep you posted if there’s any change.

I'm getting buffering all the time now, BBC iPlayer is every minute or two, All 4 can be slightly better. I'm on Windows 11, has that had any impact? Latency now sits around 315.
Anything I can clear or change to help with this?

When I posted about this issue in June Nick "rebooted a few things" and the problem was fixed. However the issue has started again. Channel 4 seems to be worst with freezing every few minutes, but there is also the occasional short freeze on ITV. Can you re-boot those few things again please? Also do you know what might be causing this issue and is there anything I can do to prevent it? It seems to increase in frequency over time.
