Two things:
1. Hideaway does not start minimized
2. nsCtrl.exe does not run on startup
Thanks

Re: Start Up Issues
Hi, it should start minimized if you shut it down in that state.
nsCTRL.exe is not ours

Sorry about ncCTRL.EXE. That has to do with a separate issue.
Re: Start Up Issues
Maybe but it my case it has stopped doing so, see attached screen shotnick.bolton wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 12:04 pmHi, it should start minimized if you shut it down in that state.

Re: Start Up Issues
Still no screenshot. Also, HideAway will remember what state it was in when it was shut down, and start in that state again

Re: Start Up Issues
To try and solve the problem I Uninstalled and Reinstalled Hideaway with ESET suspended. On startup I enter my licence and checked the box for Hideaway to run when Windows starts. It doesn't. I have to start it manually. I have rebooted at least three times with the same result. Ideas?

Re: Start Up Issues
If you do have, "Run Hideaway when windows starts" enabled in Hideaway, (one possible fix is to disable that, close Hideaway >> restart PC >> re-enable it >> restart again) yet it does not do this, the usual reason is that Hideaway is set to run as admin from either the shortcut in the startup folder, or the programs .exe file itself...
Locate and right click on these, click Properties, and ensure that nothing is ticked under the Compatibility tab.
If still no good, click Start, search for msconfig and click msconfig.exe.
Click the startup tab, and ensure that Hideaway is ticked (if there).

Re: Start Up Issues
Thank you.
I have followed everything you suggested but nothing changed.
I googled how to add an app to start up and followed those instructions. I worked but maximised. Hideaway now appears in the list of start up apps, (which it not do before) and if I switch it on or off in the list of startup apps it follows the setting. But--- when the setting is to start with Windows, it does: but maximised.
Any further thoughts?

@Trustfire: I failed to acknowledge your help. My sincere apologies. Thanks to you I learned of the meagre permitted size of attachments.
I still have the problem that Hideaway will no longer run minimized on my PC. It's a problem I can live with but it never before was an issue.
When I manually minimize it it drops to my task bar but is also in my hidden Icons, where it should be.

Yes, really not sure exactly why this is failing on some systems, we'll send it off to our developer and see if he can figure it out and hopefully get it fixed in a future update....

Thank you. Now I know you know there is a problem, I'll stop worrying about it. I was concerned that the problem was something in my PC. If the developers are the same people working on version 5, it may be a long wait!

If you Google "vaporware" it will probably come back with "Hideaway v5"
