Keeps on crashing

From the look of it, I'm the only person having this problem. On the other hand, nobody else has made a single post yet so perhaps I'm the only person to have installed the product? ;)

Anyway, I decided to enter a few contacts manually. I got as far as 6 and then gave up because the program crashed 3 times while pasting in addresses. Since then I have had it running in the background (system tray) and every 2 minutes or less it crashes with zero interaction on my part. I hadn't even sent or received any mails! So regretfully, at this stage I won't be launching it any more until a solution has been found.

Yikes, that's odd. What Windows OS/Email Client/Antivirus are you running?

If you could have a look in the install.log file (or paste it here) in C:\Program Files (x86)\Firetrust\EncryptUs and let me know if there's any errors in there. It's not a big file so errors should stand out.

I'm running Win 7 Ultimate x64 (SP1), Outlook 2007, and the latest version of Comodo Internet Security.
I regret I cannot provide the logfile because since uninstalling the program the installation folder is no longer there.

It's a shame I am the only person posting here. It would have been useful to get feedback from other users.

Thanks, we do have this exact setup to test with - minus the Comodo Internet Security so I'll install that and see if I can get it to crash. I do suspect it will be a conflict with Comodo as both are using a low level driver. We might look to change our driver anyway as we've had the odd issue with it.

I'm more than happy to try the program again once you believe the bugs have been worked out.
Also, I very much appreciate the ability to provide feedback and get replies from you. Too many companies take the attitude that customer service is to be avoided at all cost and only react if something negative is posted to their Facebook profile. Even then, some will react positively whilst others simply delete the negative post. In our language we label the latter as W**KERS. :lol:

I think we only get better by responding to and encouraging feedback. As developers we get a bit too close to the product and forget to make it easy to use or just assume stuff for people, so any feedback is welcome. That's how we started with Mailwasher and all feedback has always been very helpful to shape it.

Exactly! I've been using MW since v2.0 and thanks to your listening to your users it just got better and better. IMHO, there isn't anything that can hold a candle to it on the market!

I myself developed an autoresponder system back in 1988. By listening to our users the service developed into something absolutely amazing. We didn't implement everything they asked for but we always considered their requests in respect of how useful the requested feature would be for all users. That is basically what you have always done too.

Even though I uninstalled EncryptUs I just got a Soluto alert to inform me that EncryptUs just crashed.
It would appear that the uninstaller does not remove everything. Can you tell me what it leaves and where so I can manually remove them please Nick?

Ok, if you've had a problem with the driver then it may crash on uninstall. Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Centre

Then Click on your connection, then 'Properties' then find the 'EncryptUs Lightweight Filter' and click the Uninstall button.

It is not there. I do have the Hideaway Lightweight Filter though.
Could there be a conflict taking place?

Ok, it's removed the driver ok and the HideAway driver does not conflict with it - we tested that :)

The only other location of items is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Firetrust\EncryptUs

Nope, nothing there either. You forgot about C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Firetrust\EncryptUs

Thanks, it's not the install.log file but just something which shows what's running. Haven't seen those errors before but must be related to the failure of the driver working properly

I have also been testing out EncryptUS but the feedback I have been giving is in a different forum. As you have noted, Nick and the others have been excellent in their responses. I have run into problems here and there. Mostly I am the cause; and at other times, the issues seem to have been caused by other programs on my computer.

With help from Nick, most of them have been dealt with. I have one more, but it is rather particular, so I won't bother the other members of this forum with it. But overall, I think that EncryptUS provides a very interesting approach to giving us control over who reads our email messages. The other solutions require that either we use the same on-line email system or we use the same off-line email client.

I am looking forward to learning how we will be able to communicate securely with those who use the "free" online services (hotmail, gmail yahoo email, etc)

Concerning uninstalling: I like to use Revo Uninstaller ( here ) to both install and uninstall programs. I find that the Pro Version does a pretty thorough cleanup of the bits and pieces of stuff floating around on our drives if we use the Add/Remove applet in the Control Panel. I used it on XP, and am still on Win 7 so I do not know how well Revo deals with more recent versions. Although given their track record to date, I expect that it is pretty good.
