Hey there,
I thought I would give you some speed results from the Netherlands using Beta version 3.14.0. I tried all servers and from here there are only 3 useful. The others fall around 50 Mbps. I have an 500 Mbps up/download fiber connection. The 3 cities I mentioned are Amsterdam, London and Geneva, which makes sense considering my location. These are the max. download speeds (forgot upload speeds, but will test them later if you like):
London 154 Mbps
Geneva 144 Mbps
Amsterdam 100 Mbps
Interesting is that Amsterdam comes out slowest. I guess it has to do with your server here.
Anyway. Hope it helps.

Re: Max Speeds in Amsterdam
Thanks for this. I actually thought the UK server would be slowest, and we're going to move that to a faster host.
Sometimes the speed depends on the routes that the ISP has access to, but with our Amsterdam server we also get a lot of torrents through there so it's pretty busy.

Re: Max Speeds in Amsterdam
Makes sense. We do love out torrents here, as there is little oversight. But we are also one of the countries with the highest internet speeds in the world. I wonder why you guys picked Amsterdam? Is the server actually located there? If so, it's the part of the Netherlands with the lowest speeds. By a lot. Here is a chart . Amsterdam is located in the first province. Would it not make sense to pick another city or provence?

Re: Max Speeds in Amsterdam
Thanks for the graph, that's good to know although I suspect/assume most hosting companies are on a main backbone and get good internet speeds no matter where - but we'll definitely inquire about the different areas. We chose Amsterdam for torrents since people love to torrent and the hosting company ignores DMCA requests.
What sort of speeds do you get if you try the Los Angeles server?
Also, if you download the SpeedTest app from the Windows Store, then you might get more accurate speed testing scores.

Well, I was using SpeedTest already. It's a good tool. Here are some measurements. 1st without using HideAway to see speeds in a few places throughout the Netherlands. The chart is pretty accurate.
Then with HideWay in all the options available. Geneva is surprisingly fast. That course was the only I had not tried yet, but glad I did now. The rest see below
Speeds without HideAway:
Amsterdam
(Rotterdam located in 1 of the highest speeds correspoding with the chart)
Apeldoorn (where I live)
North of Holland (near a huge Google Data Center)

Re: Max Speeds in Amsterdam
Thanks for that - very interesting. I always find it interesting to test HideAway say through LA, then stop/disconnect HideAway and test against the same LA server that speed test is connected against. HideAway is faster for me every time.
A lot of speeds depend on efficient routing as well. We're based in New Zealand and so we have direct cables to LA, and Hideaway always gives me faster speeds than my 200mb connection.

That does make a lot of sense. We are almost literally on geographical opposite locations of this planet. Different hemispheres. I do know we have cables to the US as well, I think NYC, but Europe is dense and has its own internet "ecosystem".
Btw, very sorry about to hear about the killings there. Extremism seems to get worse everywhere.

Re: Max Speeds in Amsterdam
Out of interest then, from your location how does HideAway compare to speeds of other VPN's? Assuming you've tried a few.
Thanks, yes it's been really unbelievable. One of our former employees died in the shootings - he was with us for 7 years and designed the Mailwasher user interface. Very sad time for us.

Out of interest, what sorts of speeds do you get for torrents in MiB/s? I get around 12 MiB/s from here in NZ to Amsterdam with HideAway.
