Hi, I am very new to MailWasher.
I installed the trial (v7) to help catch and flush phishing emails mainly for my outlook account (MS). However, when I run it nothing happens and it says there is no Spam. Then when I launch Outlook, the Spam/phishing emails show up.
So, just now I looked at the errors log and found the following (see the screen cap to follow). Everything in settings looks good to me, and when I click on "Check Mail" I get what appear to be valid messages for login and then "Default Mail checked in the last minute".
But clearly it is not working.
When I set it up I got a message saying that login was successful and I have checked the credentials. But clearly something is wrong.
Any suggestions on how I can resolve this or at least find the problem?
Thanks for any help.
B.

Re: Errors/non-functioning please help debug
Hi, I did set it up with OAUTH and just checked again. I also looked at the MS article mentioned at the link you shared, but no joy. Something is still broken.
I have Outlook running in iOS and there I needed to set up FaceID to open the Outlook app (which is fine) and that has to be linked to a passcode, which is also fine. I can't think why, but perhaps this is somehow making MS think I need MFA? I don't use MFA to get into Outlook online or on my PC client however, but I do use login credentials - which are the same as those I entered into MW.
Anyway, still stuck. Thanks.

Re: Errors/non-functioning please help debug
OK, in that case, can I please have some logs as per below directions:
- Use MWPro until you get the error,
- Click Help>>Send Support Logs.
- Write a note referring to this post (copy/paste the link from the address bar in your web browser)
- Click "Send Logs"
Then, reply to this to let me know the logs have been sent in case they do not arrive for any reason...

Hi,
I just sent the logs. I have not been online for a couple of days, but I am getting the same errors and can't check email. Thanks. B.

Re: Errors/non-functioning please help debug
Great, thanks for those logs, and yes, please change to the incoming server:
outlook.office365.com
If no better, delete the problem email account first:
Settings>>Accounts, click the account>>Remove Account.
Click File>>Exit to close MWpro, then re-open it.
Then setup the account/s again exactly as per below directions:
In Mailwasher Pro click, Settings>>Accounts>>Add Email Account, type any name for this account you like, enter your email address and click Save.
Click the Incoming tab and click "Sign in with Microsoft", follow the prompts and you'll be asked for permission to allow MW access to the account, ensure you agree to this.
If it shows successful, click Save again on the outgoing tab, refresh folders on the IMAP tab (IF asked) and you are all set.
Please let me know how it all goes....

Re: Errors/non-functioning please help debug
Hi
Thanks for the updated info. I deleted the account and am creating a new profile in MW. I have a couple of questions tho:
1) I need to authenticate to MS using 2FA (I use the MS Authenticator) and I still think that may be an issue for MW, but don't know how to fix it with some kind of long term token for MW. Normally if I have to sign in again, I must use the Authenticator to generate response to a one time PIN provided by MS (to confirm that I know the PIN). Any ideas?
2) What do I put in for the outbound server, in MW to set up the new account? I use the "new" client under Windows much of the time and it is a mess for people who want to tune things, as most settings are hidden someplace and they just go scrape the message subject line from their server (I think, not sure but it is not great).
Thanks

Re: Errors/non-functioning please help debug
Hi
I am now able to use MW. And I want to thank you for helping me to get it working and (it appears) extending my trial. I am very ill, so it is sometimes very difficult for me to sit and work with new tools, or even to get to my emails. But I should have made a decision soon. I can see advantages with MW, especially if it allows me to preview email and quarantine or destroy malicious spam/phishing before it gets to my PC. However, 2 questions on that:
1) How do I get this to work for my phone? It auto downloads emails and worse, I ran into a problem last year where spammers and others were using a vulnerability in Apple's calendar tool to flood Apple Mail with invitations, that ended up in my Outlook account and then in my calendar. I managed to resolve that (with no help or online guidance from Apple, who seem to be oblivious), but I am wondering what to do for use of MW to stop those things before they get into my phone? I may try to find a way to turn off auto functions in Outlook, but it appears to be tied in with Apple Mail, which I don't understand.
2) When I run MW, to "Wash Mail" it opens Outlook right away which seems to defeat the purpose. Some stuff is slipping through. So, should it not finish the mail filtering before launching Outlook? Or is this possibly OK, but it needs more samples and training?
Thanks again. Hope you see this

Re: Errors/non-functioning please help debug
Hi again, sorry about the non reply on that last post, missed it somehow! note you can always email support at firetrust dot com anytime if you get no replies here too...
Re No 1, yes, we do have a MW Mobile version which is free to use. however does not as yet support OAUTH so wont be much use to you at the moment unfortunately...
However, directions to disable your email programs auto send/receive here:
Apple:
https://www.lifewire.com/make-iphone-ma ... er-1172558
Or for Outlook 365 only, possibly this page helps:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/out ... 88bfabf947
Re No 2, yes, you can set MW to delay opening Outlook for XX seconds to get around this problem, this option is under Settings>>General>>Washing Mail, check , "Delay before launch" and choose how many seconds and click Save.
Cheers!
