I noticed that Mailwasher was included in CCleaner (Pro) and wondered if it would empty the MW recycle bin. If I remember correctly, it didn't, but that might have been because I had System / Empty Recycle Bin unticked in CCleaner.

The MWP Recycle Bin is not to be confused with the Recycle Bin entry on CCleaner.

ATM, the MWP entry at CCleaner bears a flawed rule that can result in loss of the MWP Learning data and Friend's List. It is highly recommended to leave that entry un-checked (disabled.)

When the Recycle Bin entry on CCleaner is left checked (enabled,) CCleaner will clean the Recycle Bin that comes with one's OS - this entry is not related to the MWP Recycle Bin.

I use CCleaner. It doesn't list Mailwasher. It lists McAfee which isn't installed on my system....

You may try deleting the following 2 registry entries:-
  • [HKLM\SOFTWARE\McAfee\AVEngine]
  • [HKCU\Software\SiteAdvisor]

You can also subscribe to the CCleaner topic which is listed along with other useful software at the internal beta channel; to be amongst the first ones to receive notifications of new releases. ;)

For what it's worth, the "CCleaner Team" (whoever that is) are idiots.

Here is the reply I got from CCleaner....

I've forwarded this information over to our CCleaner team, who believes that this problem does not exist when using the latest version of MailWasher. I understand that you are affiliated with Firetrust, the makers of MailWasher, so I am not certain that this will help.

If you're already using the latest version of MailWasher, please let us know. If not, can you please update to the latest version of the software and check to see if the problem still exists?

Not encouraging, but we'll get there eventually.

I don't know if this'll help, but I've sent Piriform the link to a little video I made.

By the way, I'm aware I didn't completely or accurately explain what it actually does to MWP, but I figured it would be OK.

Coolio :thumbsup

In my earlier email to them I did specifically detail what files are safe to remove at any time, being .log and the logs subfolder. They just don't believe me quite yet.

If you happen to see Peter Jackson, please tell him I'm gettin' a new camera and am gettin' ready for my newest film epic: "The Lord of the Rings Meets the Hobbit While Using Mail WasherPro" - so he'd better watch out!

Quick update.
I've contacted our CCleaner team again who has confirmed this as an issue and said that they will have this fixed in the next version of our software, which will be released around April 25th.
