Server to Chose

Is there a right way to select the server through which to direct all traffic? If I look in "Traffic" at upload and download speeds Melbourne appears to be the best and Frankfurt about the worst. However If I redirect though Melbourne, half the world away, my internet seems very slow. Through Frankfurt it is much better. I do not think I care how I redirect as long as I get optimum performance. Thanks.

Curious about this myself, as for me Turkey and Egypt show the best download 'performance', Australia one of the worst. Which isn't what I'd expect

Generally though you should consider the servers with the lowest ping when redirecting all traffic.
