A lot of people now contributing with whatever they happen to know (or want to show up)...
It all boils down to this;
MW2010 is considerably slower and more consuming than the good old MW 6.X.
So stop throwing around all kinds of helping hands, if your brand new MW disappoints you, go back to MW 6. It does the job. Nuf said.

Undeniably true.

. . . . . . . . or run both versions in conjunction and try to contribute towards a quicker release of a swifter 2010.

I presently have 4 GB installed on my antique XP system and typically have a commit north of 2.4 GB with a peak of 2.5 currently being shown. I multitask with FF open with multiple tabs, and typically three or four other apps running. 105 processes active an during the day watching TV in a window on the system.

Yeah, the fall in performance of 2010 vis-a-vis the 6.XX version is more perceptible on a slower system. :cry

Ah, I don't watch TV on my computer (and very rarely on my TV either). No wonder you need all that memory, TV applications gobble it.

It is pointless waffling on about resources and other aspects which may slow a computer. The point is the 2010 version is hopelessly slow compared to the 6.51 version I have been using. It goes to sleep for interminable periods trying to access my email accounts, and then does the same thing while "washing" the messages.

I find the first time I access my accounts after I have launched MW it works swiftly. Thereafter it apparently tries to emulate Rumplestiltskin. I don't have the time or patience to allow my beard to grow that long, so I too give up and go back to 6.51.

I am not, you might say, very pleased.

Can I have my $10 back please.

There's aren't many software companies that give you back your money if you are unsatisfied - ever try getting money back from a game development company? I am still weeping over what 'they' did to my beloved 'Command and Conquer' game. But give you back your money? Hell no - go away.

Good behaviour sometimes needs to be acknowledged - especially since it is so rare in IT.

Kudos Firetrust.

I totally agree and I was flabbergasted to receive notification so quickly. In fact I immediately wrote back saying that I didn't want a refund as long as I could be certain that the problem was being worked on.

However, I have been advised it can't now be reversed and that I should keep an eye open to see how things are progressing.

I will because I like MW and have been using it since it first showed up. I like the new interface and concept. But I can't afford to be diddled around with interminable delays.

Thank you guys.

Cheers,

Gary

Just to clarify so no-one thinks I was trying to give you the run around, it's the refund that cannot be reversed not the payment. Once they're in the system it's locked in until completion.

I understand that, thank you.
