Duh! I think I'm getting old. All OK now and Mailwasher .187 installed and working.
I realised that Mailwasher was still running in the background so:
1) Mailwasher Settings > Application > Launch - set to None (instead of "Launch when Windows starts up"
2) Restarted PC
3) Windows logo -> Programs.. -> Mark Mailwasher Pro -> Uninstall (success !)
4) Found where I had saved .187 to, double click, install (success!)

We had to disable something 'First Alert' or MailWasher just shutdown.
Unfortunately for me I have completely uninstalled MWP (angry) and lost the lifetime licence data/info (and confidence in the product). So I don't know if I will bother after this latest cockup and just try Thunderbirds AntiSpam measures..

Didn't we have all of the problems with this .173 version:Helvetica wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 1:53 amWindows 10 Pro.
I wanted to uninstall my .173 and - as suggested by previous posts - install mailwasher_pro_setup_7_12_187.
However, I cannot uninstall my .173. When I go to Programs... mark Mailwasher Pro and click Uninstall, nothing happens, absolutely nothing.
So I tried installing .187 without uninstalling .173 and I get an error. It gets as far as the "Ready to Install" window, then "The Mailwasher Pro Setup Wizard ended prematurely".
How can I uninstall Mailwasher but keep my data?

is there an official statement advising 187 will fix the problem? I find it odd there hasn't been one as far as I can tell. NZ is 12 hours ahead of GMT so it's the middle of the night over there now.Marty9753 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 5:48 pmThe latest version 7.12.187 is working fine. http://cdn.firetrust.com/downloads/mail ... 12_187.exe

MWP opens a connection to the MWP-Server to send or submit something.
This Server doesn't answer, so any Mail receipt isn't possible

It's not depending on a license.

Madness that they have left 173 version on their site for potential newbies to download and install.
They, at the very least, should replace it with the working version (if that version is in fact theirs.) which is secure to download or disable downloads until they sort this sorry mess out.

install MW187 (over 173) - enable FA - it runs fine (now) on both my Win 10 PC's.
Contact MW support (from your registered email address and register the app again). Yes, 173 is a misfiretrust - their support is always fast (and friendly), they will help you out (though I'm wondering why they are (too) silent lately - with MW-updates and replies on this board).
Re: An unknown error has occurred. MailWasher is unable to determine the cause of this error.
OPTIONAL: Just clean your registry (Wise Registry or CCleaner have portable versions)David_R wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 2:41 am

MW187 is not the latest.
Don't use reg cleaner. It will just corrupt your reg
Your Reg informations are stored in a file called: key.file
It's located in c:\ProgramData\Firetrust\MailWasher

Yes, I've got the problem too.
I would have hoped for an official response by now. They had all day Monday in NZ to fix this.
Gone back to v 7.12.25 for now - seems ok.

Imagine the developer claiming it's only a problem for Windows 11. They know well it's down for 10 too

Re: An unknown error has occurred. MailWasher is unable to determine the cause of this error.
I have just tried v7.12.173 and it still does not work, so I have reverted back to v7.2.119 which works (for me, anyway).
I would advise against installing officially unreleased versions which are probably beta, as they may contain bugs yet unknown to the developer. If you do choose to install unreleased or beta versions, it is only yourself potentially putting your data at risk - so nobody else is it blame if the worst happens.

I've just seen the post from @gingbat saying that the "Problem confirmed only for Windows 11". This is incorrect, as many Windows 10 users are affected too, including myself.
I am running MWP on Windows 10 Enterprise 22H2 Build 19045.3636 and confirm that the issue persists on my laptop Windows 11 laptop too.

Think I will wait for a fix. Mailwasher has become decreasingly useful over the years.

Easier said that done. The installer barfs when it sees a newer version.
