Evaluating Messages stops before all emails checked

Fri May 01, 2020 4:47 am

When I Evaulate emails sometimes it will stop when its not finished i.e gets to say message 34 of 400 then stops or crashes.

This has only happened in the last few weeks and I've changed no settings on the email accounts or in mailwasher.

Downloading Email get unknown error

Fri May 01, 2020 4:52 am

During email download sometimes the email accounts report :

Description: An unknown error has occurred. MailWasher is unable to determine the cause of this error.

Diagnosis: <EVENT><NAME>MWPEXCEPTION</NAME><ID>b6d27a6b06b503a9254867241d0d513b</ID><DT>2020-04-30 17:48:18</DT><MWPEXCEPTION><UID>Exception 9e8d81aabfefca78d5c2270160305c60</UID><AID>Acct1302107363</AID><SOURCE>MWPfetch::FetchThread()</SOURCE><MESSAGE>Unknown error</MESSAGE><ADDXML></ADDXML></MWPEXCEPTION><ORDINAL>0</ORDINAL></EVENT>

It's not always the same mailbox and sometimes more email will download before it stops and reports the message.

Is there any limits in mailwasher as my crypto folder has over 300,000 records.

I merged these two posts together, as they are related.

Unfortunately the logging around the error is quite poor.
Error MWPfetch::FetchThread() Unknown error
:thumbsdown

There is a new beta, that is better than what you have. So try that first, it will install fine over the top.

If that fails, then can you go Help >> check Log Protocol >> make the problem happen again >> send another set of logs.

Cheers

Not relevant to these problems, but there is a bug in the current beta where MailWasher is doing too much work. Under Settings >> Spam Tools >> Origin of Spam >> uncheck the 3 DNSBL servers >> this just will reduce the load when having many messages.

For the issue, can you first try going into Settings >> General >> Checking Mail >> set the Spam Throttle back to 350-500 lines >> restart MailWasher >> see if the same errors happen.

Assuming they do, is there any AntiVirus program that has an email scanner module ? If so, try disabling just the email scanner portion >> restart MailWasher >> check again..

Failing that, try removing one of the accounts that is failing, restart MailWasher and add (or import) the account back and see if you can check that account by clicking the drop down beside Check Mail and select just that account.

Also if you are loading old messages and don't wish to, under Settings >> Accounts >> Incoming >> Advanced >> you can optionally set MailWasher not to download emails tagged as Read (tagged by webmail or email program) and/or also bring in just a date range of emails, for example the last 14 days.

OK, I see it now, sorry for not picking it up earlier but the database has become malformed.

Option 1 : You can send me the database file and I will see if I can repair it manually. Under Help >> User Files >> cache >> there will be a file called mwp.db3 >> if you can ZIP and email me that file to [email protected]

Option 2 : Nuclear. Under Help >> User Files >> close MailWasher down >> rename the cache file to something like cache_old >> restart MailWasher >> you will however lose all Learning, Recycle Bin, Friends and Blacklists.
Renaming is safer for the start in case we can pull some data from database file.

Right. Wiping is probably best then, there is obviously the pain of getting MW back up to speed, but that and the crypto folder you mentioned being so huge too, perhaps needs a clean out.

the backup toke ages to complete and redoing all the learning is not an opition with thousands of emails on the server.

OK, with the problem of the database error that might be the cause. The backup taking so long I assume is because you included Learning, which is the cache/crypto folder.

If you try renaming the folder as above, and see how MailWasher responds. You can always rename the folders back deleting the new cache folder you create, and rename the cache_old back to just cache.

You also want this beta, it has improved performance, won't fix the issue but given quantity of mails will be better

Will install fine over the top.
