Why some blacklisted sender/domain mails will not wash out?

Tue Jul 28, 2020 3:48 am

The subject says it all. Most of the time this works well. But I have one blacklisted that no matter how many times I try to wash it out it stays. It's not present on my browser on Gmail, it's not present on Thunderbird (which I'm trying)

I'm sure there is a simple solution for this noob! Actually I tried Mailwasher a couple years back. I can't remember why I forsook it. Maybe I was using the FREE? and it didn't work as well as this PRO trial? :facepalm

Who knows! :roll: Thanks for any reference to this. jack ":-}

Well I've figured maybe it's a glitch and it won't wash out. So I just CLEAR the list and it's gone. I guess that takes care of it as it is listed in the Blacklist under Spam Tools. :D

Blaclisting wil not -by default- automatically lead to deletion. It will just add to the negative score. Mails will be set for deletion, as soon as the negative score reaches the level, set under settings>>Spam Tools>>Spam Ratings.

Automatic deletion of blacklisted senders can be set under settings>>Spam tools>>Blacklist>>Options. But I would strongly advise against setting this option.

I hear you "beta tester" ? I did set it but thought, I'd have to check this very often to make sure some good domain wasn't there. 2 questions

1. Why won't that one blacklisted clear on the grid? Is it just a matter of Clearing the Grid
2. Is there a setting that even deleted blacklisted are in a Trash Bin somewhere for a final look-see

Thanks greatly jack ":-}

Added: I'm washing those marked blacklisted sender/domain and they don't all go away? Puzzled as in the first I could have 20 blacklisted and a Washing got the gone???

1- The grid should be cleared of deleted mail, but not before you do a wash mail.

2- Deleted mails can always be checked and -if neccessary- restored in the recycle bin, within the time you set in settings>>recyce bin>>general.. After that time, deleted mails will be gone forever. There is one "but" though: The recycle bin will only contain the number of lines you set under settings>>checking mail>>Number of lines.... A setting of 200 should be sufficient for "normal" (text-)mails. If you wish to be able to restore HTML messages, or mails with large attachments, you'd want to ajust this setting to a higher level. Play around with these settings a bit, to find the correct balance between speed and accuracy, as a higher number of lines will obviously have a negative impact on speed...
