Still servers are really slow

Hideaway was the fastest vpn service I ever had. but recently after that server outage whatever the server I connect, it's really really slow comparing to without vpn connection. I won't get more that 20-30% of my original bandwidth when I connect to VPN server. Is it only me having this issue or it's occurred to others as well?

We're doing an update this weekend to fix some issues there.

I'm connected to 'Watch UK TV' and have given up trying to stream anything

Give this version a try. It fixes the server slow downs we were having and should be significantly faster, just updating the servers but only up to countries starting with I.

But have done the 'Watch UK' ones so see if it helps.

Shutdown HideAway first, then install this one.

Or what was the issue with streaming from these 'Watch UK' servers? Did they detect a VPN, or were they just slow?

Hi Nick,

It connected OK but it was just continuous buffering and so quite unwatchable. I started downloading the program instead but it's just crawling along.

I'll try reinstalling that version and let you know how it goes ...

Before I uninstalled I noticed the download had sped up considerably so I tried streaming again and it was fine, Whatever you did Nick it worked great so thanks!

Start with the performance monitors and see if your Disk, CPU, RAM, or Network Traffic performance is normal/acceptable.

Nick, this morning I got the same go slow on the UKTV redirect so thought I'd give your suggestion above a go. I didn't read the post post properly though and realised afterwards I was just supposed to completely shut down and not also uninstall. I tried to install again from your link above and got the dreaded ‘Unable to initialise hideaway driver: FAIL’

I also tried to go back to the current version but still get the same message

You'll need to uninstall HideAway, restart your PC, then install it again

There's nothing to uninstall now as this is as far as I get when I try to reinstall and then Hideaway just shuts down

Can you please do this.

Click start -> search for cmd -> right click -> choose “run as
administrator", then type (or copy/paste) the following and press enter after each line.


cd %LOCALAPPDATA%\HideAway\app-4.17.3\resources\app\driver
HideAwayDriverSetup.exe -u


Restart Computer (not Shutdown)

Run cmd.exe as Administrator, and type

sc query hideaway


Should say something like

[SC] EnumQueryServicesStatus:OpenService FAILED 1060:
The specified service does not exist as an installed service.


Run cmd. exe as Administrator, and type

cd %LOCALAPPDATA%\HideAway\app-4.17.3\resources\app\driver
HideAwayDriverSetup.exe -i


Run cmd. exe as Administrator, and type

sc query hideaway


Should say something like

SERVICE_NAME: hideaway
TYPE : 1 KERNEL_DRIVER
STATE : 4 RUNNING
(STOPPABLE, NOT_PAUSABLE, IGNORES_SHUTDOWN)

Run HideAway

Redirect: All Computer
to
USA, Los Angeles

Go to ipinfo.io confirm it works

I think they're the same instructions you gave me when I got that same response after installing Windows 10 so I'll file them away so I don't have to bother you if it happens again
