Problem with V7.12.19 / Windows 11 and dual monitors

Tue Mar 07, 2023 10:31 pm

Hi Guys,

I've just bought myself a new HP laptop and now running that with 2x 1920x1080 res monitors and Windows 11.

If I drag MW Pro from the laptop screen over to either of the monitors and maximise it, the minimise, maximise and close buttons disappear along with the File, Email, View and Help tabs (see screenshot attached), it also goes full-screen and covers the task bar. The only way I can then close or minimise the app is to click on the icon on one of the other task bars.

Any idea on what could be causing this? No other app seems to cause this when maximised so I don't think that it's an O/S issue.

On a separate issue a number of emails don't have the option to show the particular message as html (no button it the top corner of the email preview)

Yes, MW does have some known issues with dual monitors, try resetting the display options by deleting the "Startup.xml" file from under Help>>User Files, (after closing MW) and MW will re-create it when it starts....

Re your HTML emails, most likely you need to set MW to download more of each email to show the entire header and the HTML info....

In MWPro click, Settings>>General>>Checking mail, drag the "Spam Throttle" slider to increase how many lines it downloads, try 500 lines for a starter....

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately deleting the xml file doesn't seem to fix the problem of the buttons disappearing - just means that I have to set views up the way I like them again. Funnily enough I can recall it seemed to work okay with a previous version and two monitors, so I wonder what has changed.

Here's the code in startup.xml

Code: Select all

Yes, very odd, you cannot drag the window so that the buttons are back into view, click File>>Exit to close MWPro, then next time it opens, it remembers this and starts in the correct location?

Or is the problem that the full MW screen IS showing, but the buttons are simply missing....?

If the latter, possibly this is a windows .net issue, (MWPro uses this for its display)....

Try running the repair tool here:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-nz/downloa ... x?id=30135

Then run windows update to ensure your PC is fully up to date.

Restart afterwards.

Yes, the problem is that it goes 'full' full-screen and what would normally be in the top-right corner disappears (see first screen shot attached)

I've run the 'fix dotnet tool' you linked to and that said it was going to fix some Windows Installer service issues and then suggested to reinlstall .NET V3.51 which I did but it made no difference.

I'm wondering if I should flick this over to Microsoft however it's only MW that appears to have this issue?

Did you try changing the DPI settings of your Windows — MailWasher does not play well with some custom DPI.

{Navigate to Windows} Settings >> {start searching for} Change the size of text, apps, and other items >> Scale and layout >> 100% (Recommended) >> {restart MailWasher.}

If the standard 100% (Recommended) does not work . . . you might want to try some other percentages.
MailWasher Pro (βeta) | Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC (22H2) | The Bat! Professional (βeta) | Windows 10 Firewall Control (βeta) | ESET Endpoint Antivirus (βeta) | nVIDIA GeForce (GTX 1060) | WebView2 Runtime (118.0.2088.61) | .NET Framework (4.8.1)

That seemed to work - it was set at 100% however changing it to 125% seems to have made it work o_O

EDIT : and changing it back to 100% seems to have kept the fix in place <extra weird>
