Failed to connect to server

Failed to connect to server

I have several Domains hosted with Mythic Beasts and am having problems with email for only one of them in MW.

I have set up a POP3 account exactly the same way as for my other email addresses, I've double checked multiple times, but get the red Failed to connect to server message in the account settings screen.

The event log shows "Failed to log into POP3_SSL server" however the actual .log file for the account insinuates it's trying to use IMAP see below

I have set up this account in my mail client Thunderbird and it connects and retrieves POP3 mail fine.

I have checked and reset the password a number of times. Deleted the account from MW and started again, but each time it fails to connect for only this email address. As I say Thunderbird retrieves email fine.

Any clues as to what is happening?

Yes, odd that TBird works with the same settings alright, did you try deleting the account, then re-importing it (instead of setting up manually) from TBird....?

If no better, possibly try using IMAP anyway just to see if that works?

Okay.
So I spent a while checking files.
Enabled the Log protocol option and all account files showed as POP3 except the erroneous one which showed IMAP??

Took a look in the Accounts.xml file and found that the Server type was showing POP3_SSL unlike all the other which was just showing POP3.
Replaced with just POP3, restarted MW and it works fine now.

Hi. I had exactly the same problem with Pro 7.15.1.33 - although it may have been introduced before then.

I found that adding a new or editing an existing account caused a Failed to Connect error, and as previous poster reported, the Accounts.xml Types now have _SSL appended.

Deleting the _SSL , resaving and restarting resolves the issue.
