MW 2010

Tue Aug 24, 2010 2:33 am

I did read somewhere somebody asking how do they know if first alert is working but can't seem to work out if I have any numbers where they suggest as its very feint on my screen maybe if I had some mail there it might show something.

Just wonder if you have fixed the checking mail between these times option yet whereby if I ask for the mail not to be checked between 19:00hrs - 08:00hrs it continues to check up to 00:00

Is there a list anywhere of things to do to save reporting problems you already know about?

Keep up the good work...

Hi Steve

If the numbers are faint that just implies there was no hit on that email. Under Help >> User Files >> Logs >> logs_[todays date] >> look for the MWP_FirstAlert.log and open this in Notepad, if you see lines like this

Code: Select all

Then it's working.

As far as I'm aware we've fixed all issues with the automatic check timer, there is no list online of things known unfortunately.

Thanks

Here are a couple shots of FA hitting and missing:

I'm finding that the 80 line throttle setting minimum for FA works but I seem to do better with 100-200 lines there instead. Also the more often I check mail the lower the FA hit rate goes as I'm getting the mail before FA gets a chance to collect it and add it to the system.

There is a suggestion to provide an indication if there is a FA problem, you could add a vote or three to that if you liked.

Thanks for the reply....
I have my settings to not check for mail between 18:00 - 09:00 and it continues checking up to 00:00

I have it set to check for mail every 60 minute's and will send another log tomorrow.

Hi Folks ...

FA - hits and missing images???

Ummmm ... I looked under the desk and I swear I don't remember where I left it.

Seriously though ... where do I look and Stan ... where were you when you took the family pics (nice too)

Just noticed this at the end of a Firetrust PM notification email: "Thanks, your new Firetrust Overlords." So true .... so very true :bow
(Never underestimate the power of a good sense of humour - whoever wrote that is a god of good taste.

EDIT: Found the logs. Doh! Thought you were giving windows folders as opposed to MWP menu items. I've got WIN 7 - and when I searched on the file name RD gave, nope ... couldn't find it. Which means it's hiding in one of the "stay away or die" folders?

I am curious about the pretty pics from Stan ... I want one too.

No clue how to do screenshots in Windows, mine are all taken from my Linux box using Ksnapshot.

I just enabled the spamtools sidebar to get the images up, you have off, wide and narrow options for displaying it and you can move it around the screen with the quick display menu.

I do screenshots with Snagit10 but if you press PrtSc then Ctrl-V in paint this will capture the whole screen, then you can trim the bit you want.

And CLTRL + ALT + PrtSc to just take the screen shot of the currently active Window, not the whole desktop
