FirstAlert enabled but not working

Sat Sep 11, 2010 5:28 am

I've been switching back and forth between freezes enabling/disabling First Alert ... presently it is enabled but it's not working ... nor are my settings holding. I have eHarmonyDating, Consolidate Debt, Accounting Degree ... and many, many others that I've ticked blacklist and they are just showing up without any classification!

One of the FirstAlert servers is a bit poorly :( I've disabled FA for now as MWP can crash if you leave it enabled :(

Firetrust are aware of the problem.

Thanks ... okay, I've disabled again. As I continue to get unclassified mail ... should my manually placed settings hold when I enable again or am I wasting my time?

What is the thinking on 'bounce?' I like to think that bounced messages discourage the sender and I'm more likely to be removed from their spam lists ... or, could they work in reverse? Or ... do they not go back to sender at all?

Bounce has been discussed in loads of threads, do a search.

99% of the time the bounce is sent to an innocent bystander as their forged email address is used in the headers.

Sorry, I didn't realize that. Then, may I ask, why is it a MWP option?

I just checked my Blacklist ... I have about a dozen email addresses listed! I've been using MWP since the day it was announced. Proof my settings are not holding!

Just received 6 spam email messages ... I ticked them all for Blacklist ... washed mail ... check Spam Tool Settings and my Blacklist is empty!

You should only use the bounce option to addresses you're 100% sure will go back to the sender ie. an ex-girlfriend/boyfriend that you don't want to communicate with.

The bounce email will never fool a professional spammer.

Can you clarify this as there is no Blacklist column so there's no 'tick for blacklist'. Unless you mean that you are right clicking the message and selecting to blacklist from there, or using the - HotKey
