[Tutorial]: Change The TASK BAR Icon From Soap To Drain Plug

Sun Sep 18, 2011 10:30 pm

This guide will assist Users of Window 7 in changing the MailWasher Pro 2011 'task bar' icon into any other icon. Since many members love the previous icon from the V6 series, this tutorial has been molded around the 'Drain Plug' and the overall objective is to arrive at the following result:-

01.) Download the icon (Drain_Plug.ico) from either of the following sites:-
http://www.mediafire.com/?tb348incn8v26tw
or
http://www.multiupload.com/ZZA8U18FGD

02.) Save the downloaded (Drain_Plug.ico) to a convenient directory - as an example, let's assume the following directory:-
C:\Users\Your User Account\AppData\Roaming\Firetrust\MailWasher

03.) Next, just follow the simple instructions in the following illustration:-

04.) After clicking 'Change Icon,' browse to the directory (C:\Users\Your User Account\AppData\Roaming\Firetrust\MailWasher) where the Drain_Plug.ico was saved and then select it

05.) Restart MailWasher Pro 2011 and that's about it.[/color] :thumbsup

Important:
You need to configure your 'Taskbar buttons' to 'Always combine, hide labels.'

Why not load the images to the forum so folks don't have to change their security settings to see them?

Forum blocks .ico filetype so it is zipped:

The external servers offer superior image rendition and about the security settings, I'm not sure what you're referring to - using Firefox here (on an ultra-tight security policy) yet no sweat at all. Files like .ico or for that matter - any extension is never blocked on those servers hence, need not have to be zipped, either ;)

I used your icon and now see it in my quick launch tray and my system tray (when the app doesn't implode on launch or first fetch, that is :barf ) but not in my taskbar. Any ideas?

You can right click the MWP icon - the yellowish one in the task bar and then just follow the guide (MWP is required to be restarted for the necessary change in icon to show up.) :thumbsup

By the way, been running the Drain_Plug icon and several other icons (as per my mood swings) for over a couple of months - no implosions (or explosions) ever experienced, here.

If the above does not work, right click an empty area on your taskbar and click 'Properties' and then on the drop-down menu of 'Taskbar buttons' - you need to select 'Always combine, hide labels.'

Taskbar properties doesn't appear to give me the 'Always combine, hide labels' option on 32bit Vista :frown

Right clicking on the MWP taskbar icon does nothing useful on 32bit Vista :gag

The taskbar icon does at least vanish if I minimise to system tray so I don't have the offending bar of soap in view all the time :thumbsup

Sorry about that Johno, did not realize you're on Vista - the 'Always combine, hide labels' setting is mandatory for the above guide to work and unfortunately, is not available on Vista. Have made the necessary alterations to the first post.
